Carl Zeiss Award
for Young Researchers

Making research visible.
Promoting young talent.

Since 2016, the Ernst Abbe Fund has been
supporting young scientists in optics and photonics.

Optics and photonics are among the key technologies of the 21st century. The Carl Zeiss Award for Young Researchers is aimed at young scientists in the fields of optics and photonics and the associated fields of precision mechanics and electronics as well as other related disciplines.

The award recognizes outstanding research achievements that drive innovation in optics, photonics, and related technologies. It highlights the contributions of young scientists to the advancement of this field of technology. It is one of the most important awards for young scientists in this field in Germany. The prize is typically awarded every two years.
